Curvy Girl Spotlight: Tiffany Ingram
This week's Curvy Girl Spotlight is no other than the fabulous Tiffany Ingram from @policyandfashion. Originally from Detroit, but has called DC home for the past 8 years. She loves DC for it's diversity, and that there is so much to see and discover here in the city.
Tiffany has been blogging for the past 3 years. Her blog Policy and Fashion was born after she began to come in touch with brilliant women that were striving to excel in their careers, but still struggling on how to dress professionally . Especially for curvy women, it's extreemly hard to find professional clothes for work without sacrificing personality. She saw a need, and wanted to be a resource for millennial women to help them look fabulous in the workplace. Tiffany is also 1/3 of the blogging trio The District Queens. The group just celebrated their 1 year anniversary this month.
Tiffany has also been nominated for Blogger of the Year by Entrepreneurs Rock (yasssss). Which will be held on June 30th here in DC. You can follow the link here to vote for her!
Tiffany describes her personal style as classic, chic, and trendy. She is a fan of chic affordable styles that necessarily don't have to break the bank. She believes that every woman needs a fit flare dress and a structured tote in their wardrobe. Her style icons include Michelle Obama because she is always so regal and poised. She also looks to Beyonce and Rihanna for trendier styles because they are always changing it up. Some of her favorite places to shop are Eloquii, Target, and Old Navy.
Outside of fashion, Tiffany is pursuing her Doctorate in Education and Human Resources Development from Drexel University. Tiffany is passionate about helping African American women overcome the challenges that they face in the workplace. She is an advocate for equal pay and closing the pay gap especially for women of color. Tiffany is active in groups like Lean In here in DC. Tiffany is also pursing her doctoral degree because her goal is to develop programs that help prepare kids for their entire college career before, during, and after. Also, helping them navigate the workplace after college.
Tiffany wants to empower women to feel good about themselves. Her personal mantra is "I have the power!" To remind herself that you have control of your life, and not to give it to anyone else! On days when she's not feeling 100% she takes the time to get up and get dressed, to help change her mood. Tiffany truly believes that when you dress well, you feel good, and that everyone can find empowerment through clothes.Tiffany loves her curves, "it's apart of who I am, and it's AMAZING!"
We see you girl! Keep Shining!
