Curvy Girl Spotlight: Yaya Reed

Never allow fear to keep you from living a full life. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone and try something new every once in a while.
— Yaya Reed

This week's Curvy Girl Spotlight is Yaya Reed. Yaya is originally from Connecticut, but has lived in DC for 17 years. She loves that in DC there is always something to do, whether it’s going to a festival, checking out some of the museums, or even indulging in t he diverse the food in the city. Yaya started  blogging because she loved to write, and wanted to have a form of expression. She always had random thoughts, so the first blog that she created was called Randomly Yaya. She continued to blog, but then found her niche and started her current blog La Vida Dulce. About a year ago, she met the ladies from the District Queens. After seeing each other at several events, the group decided to collaborate together and create the group. The District Queens just celebrated their one year anniversary this past June! Yaya has been busy blogging, but she has been working some other projects as well. This Summer she had the opportunity to be a Simply Be Summer Ambassador. Also, with her love for organization she is creating  on a blog planner and editorial calendar for fellow bloggers.

Yaya by Day:

Corporate Event Planner. Yaya has planned and managed events that have had almost 20,000 attendees. So she has planning and operations down to a science!

Yaya on the Weekend:

When she is not checking out the many activities in DC, you can find Yaya on a plane. She loves to travel!  Although she travels a lot for work, she also makes time for personal travel. One of the places that Yaya is dying to visit is Venice, Italy. She would love to visit there to enjoy the culture, and of course a gondola ride (with pasta and wine of course!).

Yaya describes her personal style as comfy chic. With the possibly of long days as a corporate event planner, her wardrobe has to be able to withstand the hours. She loves to shop at brands like Eloquii, because the brand is  professional and stylish. Some of her style icons are Olivia Palermo and Tracee Ellis Ross. One wardrobe staple that Yaya cannot live without is her Louis Vuitton neverfull bag. Not only is it a great travel bag, but it is a great professional everyday tote.

Yaya always encourages self care. She believes that it's vital to take some me time. Yaya will even take herself on a date to have some me time. She is also a firm believer of pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. As she told me, "When you push yourself out of your comfort zone, that's where life begins". Yaya has had to do exactly that many times in her life, and she promises that it pays off!

We see you girl, keep shining!
